About this event
On Sunday 13th October, JCSNE will be holding our traditional winery tour through the hills of the NW Corner.
For those who have not joined us before, the plan is to visit a couple of wineries (one in the morning, and one in the afternoon), with lunch between. We deliberately take the longer, more scenic route between locations so we can do what Jaguar intended - drive our cars! The total route will be about 56 miles. If you can't make the entire event (e.g. you just want to join us for lunch), that is ok - but please register, and then email to let us know what your plans are. From the itinary below you should be able to tell where and when we plan to be be throughout the day. We hope you will join us!
Here is the planned itinerary - check back here to see if there are any changes....
9:45am Meet at McDonald's in Winstead (15 South Main St Route US-44, Winsted, CT 06098)
10:15am Depart McDonalds, with a short scenic drive to Jerram Winery (15 minute drive)
10:30am Arrive at Jerram, and park on the lawn. Enjoy warm apple cider donuts (courtesy of Herv and Barb), and hot mulled wine (or regular wine tasting, if you prefer)
Noon: Depart Jerram for a scenic drive to The Boat House restaurant in Lakeville, CT. The drive is about 40 miles, and should take just over an hour. We will be taking the scenic route, past lakes and rivers and over a covered bridge. The route includes twisty backroads and some faster sections (but never on the highway). All asphalt, it's perfect for classic cats!
For those who are interested, this is the route we will take between Jerram and Lakeville.
1:15pm Lunch at The Boat House Lunch in Lakeville, CT. We will be eating from the regular Menu (members being responsible for their own bill).
2:30pm (Estimated) We will leave The Boathouse for a short drive to The Land of Nod winery, where we can relax on the lawn hopefully to enjoy the afternoon sun and good company before heading home (we can use the tent in the unlikely case of bad weather).
It is important you register as soon as possible so we know how many to expect! (I need to tell the restaurant and Jerram a few days in advance)
We will also be sending out updates to those who have registered as we finalize the details
